nyc : abcv.

is everyone here aware of grub street? if not, it's new york magazine's food & restaurant blog. they keep me informed of important pieces of food-related news & i'm kind of obsessed with their podcast. (if you guys want an amazing article for an intro and/or a thought-provoker, read this.)

anyway, back in february, grub street alerted me that jean-georges vongerichten opened abcv right near the rest of the abc family in flatiron. since i had this june nyc trip planned, i became obsessed with getting a reservation (near impossible, we ate at 6pm, aka 5pm chicago).

here's why ... the abcv about section is basically a bunch of buzz words that make my life complete : "plant-based, non-gmo, sustainable, artisanal & organic whenever possible." see? there's more. "locally & globally from small & family farms." right?! even more. "abcv is here to serve, inform & inspire a cultural shift toward plant-based intelligence, through creativity & deliciousness. offering high vibration foods, embracing balance with beauty, wellness, wisdom & love. to nuture our personal & planetary ecosystems." heart eyes emoji on repeat to the max.

luckily, my bestie / new york tour guide (hi, melissa!) was willing to share everything so we got to order a lot ... one might say, too much. (including our server.) here's what we had ...

green chickpea hummus :
with thai basil & crudité.
melissa & i both agreed ... the best hummus either of had ever had in our lives. this is potentially the highest honors that a hummus could receive, as i pretty much eat it every.single.day. no exaggeration.

seared baby artichokes :
sicilian olive oil, green olives & mint.
any form of artichokes is good in my book. plus, love those little salty olive bits.

dosa :
cashew cream & avocado.
my first dosa experience & it was a positive one, let me tell you. melissa didn't love the sour-ness of the dough (which i did, because it reminded me of injera) ... so i got to eat almost the entire thing.

fresh steamed tofu :
crispy yuba & ponzu.
YUM YUM YUM. since melissa doesn't like tofu, i inhaled this. to put it simply.

fresh spinach spaghetti :
broccoli, kale, preserved lemon, garlic & saffron crumbs.

the last amazing dish of the meal. like my opinion on artichokes, any plate of pasta rocks my world. especially when it incorporates greens into said pasta.

not going to lie here ... abcv was definitely one of the best vegan meals from an exclusively vegan/vegetarian place i've ever had. if you're in nyc, it's a must try. enjoy!!
